How To Use A Laptop Touchpad

Posted on 16:13 by Unknown

How to use a laptop touchpad, a laptop touchpad is an alternative to a regular computer mouse, a touchpad allows you to move the onscreen cursor, scroll through pages or click links on a laptop. It can perform the same function that a regular computer mouse is capable of, below are tips on how to efficiently and effectively use a laptop touchpad.
  • The first step is to check if your touchpad is turned on, if it is not turned on, follow the steps below to enable it or get it turned on.
Go to Control Panel > Mouse > Settings
Click Enable

  • On most current laptops, there is a special button to enable or disable the touchpad
  • Make use of the touchpad by dragging or moving your finger gently across it, this movement controls the onscreen cursor, whatever direction you move finger to, the cursor follows.
  • To click on a link, place the onscreen cursor on the link and just tap on the touchpad once, alternatively you can make use of the left or right buttons of the touchpad to click on the link, depending on how it is configured in the control panel.
  • To perform a double click function, tap the touchpad twice, this function is mostly used to open programs installed in the laptop by tapping on their icons, when you want to do this, do it firmly and quickly. This is the same as using a regular computer mouse for double clicking.
  • If you do not like tapping the touchpad, then you can make use of the left and right buttons beside the touchpad. They are like the left and right buttons of  a computer mouse.
  • To perform a Scrolling function, place your finger on the touchpad and move the onscreen cursor to the right side of the screen, locate the scroll up and down bar, when you place your cursor on the scroll up side of the bar and tap the touchpad gently, this action moves the page been displayed upwards and on the other hand if the cursor is on the scroll down bar, it moves the page downwards. To scroll side to side, drag the cursor to the side ways bar and perform the same action as described above.
