Blue Screen Of Death Fix

Posted on 14:32 by Unknown
Blue screen of death fix, the Blue Screen of Death also known as a Stop Error, Blue Screen, Blue Screen of Doom, BSOD, Bug Check Screen or Stop Screen is an error screen displayed by an operating system after a  crash. There is a great possibility that you will have heard of or seen the Blue Screen of Death. It turns the computer or laptop screen completely blue with an error code. A Blue Screen of Death is the worst type of error a computer or laptop can experience, unlike other crashes like an application crash, which doesn’t bring down or completely affect the whole system. A Blue Screen of Death is the result of low-level software crashing or a faulty hardware and it affects the whole system.

Causes of Blue Screen of Death
Blue Screen of Death is caused by hardware problems or conflicts or issues with low level software running in the Windows kernel. A blue screen can also occur when Windows encounters a “STOP ERROR” This critical failure causes Windows to crash and stop working. The only thing Windows can do is stop the computer and restart it. This process can lead to data loss, as programs don’t have a chance to save their open data. Normally, programs should continuously save their data so a blue screen of death or other type of error won’t result in data loss. When a blue screen occurs, Windows automatically creates a “mini dump” file that contains information about the crash and saves it to your disk. You can view information about these mini dumps to help identify the cause of the blue screen.

Fixing Blue Screen of Death
If you just installed a new hardware, the Blue Screen of Death can possibly be be caused by an incorrect driver. To fix this problem boot Windows into Safe Mode (by tapping F8 just before the Windows logo appears). In Safe Mode, go to Control Panel > System > Hardware Manager to uninstall the device.

Other causes of Blue Screen of Death are faulty RAM, a computer trying to boot from a corrupt CD and bad capacitators on the motherboard, though this is very rare. Blue Screen of Death can also occur due to file corruption. To fix this boot from the Windows installation CD and go to the Recovery Console. From the command line run chkdsk /r to fix file errors. Once chkdsk is done, exit the Recovery Console and try restarting the computer.

Even if the Operating System seems to start normally now without any problem, you still need to run the manufacturer's hard drive diagnostic program to check for hardware errors. If Windows is running but the hard drive fails the test, then it means that you need to get a new hard drive. Chkdsk has only temporary put a hold on the original problem and the Blue Screen of Death stop error will return. If after running chkdsk Windows still crashes with a Blue Screen, but the diagnostic program report shows that the hard drive is good, then the hard disk can be used again. In this case, you need to first recover the data. After that, run the Windows installation program, remove the partition and format the hard drive. Do not use the "quick format" option. Removing the partition and formatting the hard drive erases ALL data on the drive and this process rectifies the problem.

The backlight is the light source of a laptop LCD display and without it, images on the LCD display can not be seen. Therefore, the life span of  the backlight is one of the factors that determines the life span of a laptop LCD display. • Set the display brightness to the lowest comfortable level
  • Avoid using a screen saver or any software that prevents the laptop from changing to Display-off or Standby mode after a timeout period. If you use a screen saver, enable the option to shut off the display after a time delay.

  • Keep sharp objects away from your laptop, this objects are dangerous and can easily damage the screen
  • Carry your laptop with the screen folded down so that if you drop it or bump into something, the delicate screen is not exposed.
  • Remove any object that is on the keyboard before closing the laptop, this will prevent the screen from being damage by such object.
  • Use a padded case or a laptop bag whenever there is need to transport the laptop from one place to another.
  • keep the case or laptop bag slightly empty to avoid putting pressure on the screen
  • Avoid touching the screen with your hand or finger, point at things on the screen with a mouse cursor or from a distance without touching the screen with your finger or with any object
  • Clean the screen with a soft cotton or micro fiber cloth rather than paper towels or tissues, and wipe with nothing at all or with only a little water. For a detailed guide on to clean your laptop screen click here

How To Lock The Hard Drive

Posted on 14:18 by Unknown
The laptop enables you to lock its internal hard drive to help keep your information secure. When you enable the hard drive lock, the current BIOS user password (or administrator password if that is the only password

After you match the drive password, you can change the laptop (and drive) password. If you forget the password, you cannot recover your data.
  • Select Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart.
  • When the logo screen appears, press F2 to enter the BIOS Setup utility, for a step by step guide on how to run the BIOS setup utility click here.
